2018 Training Kick-off!

Hello TMH Families!

We are kicking-off 2018/19 season this coming Sunday at the West Resort, TMH Hut, from 8.30 AM to 12.30 PM. We are planning to conduct evaluations for new members, work on the fundamentals and drills with the returning athletes, free ski, and distribute jackets. There will be no gate training.

This year we have a new procedure to pay team fees and purchase season passes at the pre-season price. Please read carefully and follow the steps below.

Steps for NEW Members

  1. Print, read, fill out, and sign ALL attached TMH forms.
  2. Scan ALL the forms and email them to teammhra@gmail.com with your athlete’s first and last name in the subject line. If you are signing-up multiple kids, please send separate emails. PLEASE NOTE that Mountain High have ADDED a new Liability ReleaseForm to the packet we’ve distributed earlier. They’ve also made some changes to the Code of Conduct and Registration Forms. Therefore, those of you who already sent us the forms, please fill out those with “_NEW” in the file name and re-send the whole package. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  3. Bring ALL Original signed forms and ONE blank check with you to your first evaluation practice. Do not fill in the check until your child passes evaluation.
  4. If you need to buy a lift ticket for the evaluation, please come to the VIP ticket window and mention “TMH Evaluation” to the cashier. This will be a regular day lift ticket purchase, but you could convert this ticket later into a season pass for the additional payment after your athlete passes evaluation and decides to join TMH. If you already have a lift ticket or season pass, just come directly to the evaluation.
  5. ALL NEW TMH candidates have to be evaluated by TMH coaches. You would have to provide an original signed Liability Release Form to the TMH Administrators (Alex and Olga) to start evaluation. Evaluation includes a few runs and a short conversation with the coach and TMH Admins. Coaches will discuss your athlete’s individual equipment needs and answer any questions about the program you may have. We will make every effort to make evaluation stress free for the athletes and their parents. After the evaluation and the conversation about the program, TMH coach or Admin will confirm the program availability for your athlete and sign your Registration Form.
  6. You will need to take the signed Liability Release Form AND Registration Form signed by the coach back to the ticket window and pay the Mountain High Fee and purchase the season pass. (If you already have a season pass, you still would have to pay the Mountain High Fee at the ticket window.) You will need to turn-in your Liability Release Form to the ticket window at this time. Please, keep the receipt and Registration Form with you.
  7. Present the receipt for the Mountain High Fee from step 6, a check payable to SCSEF for the team jacket rental fee and deposit, locker fee (optional), and Southern California Ski Education Membership Fee, and turn-in remaining forms to TMH Administrators.
  8. Stop by our house to pick-up your jacket any time on Sunday 12/16 from 1.00 PM to 5.00 PM. Address: 1060 Rivera Dr., Wrightwood, CA.
  9. YOU ARE DONE!!! We are not planning any further practice on the sign-up day for the new members, but we may just free ski for the balance of the day if the conditions allow.

Steps for Returning Members

  1. Follow Steps 1-3 above.
  2. Have TMH Administrators (Alex or Olga) to sign your Registration Form.
  3. Follow steps 6-9 above to register with the team.

Please, talk to TMH Administrators if you have any questions or if you are eligible for an employee or large family discount before going to the ticket window.

If you are unable to come this Sunday, please complete Steps 1 and 2, so we have a tentative head count and follow steps 3-8 during next TMH practice.

Due to the tight holiday schedule this year our next practice/winter camp will be on 12/28-12/31. We are planning to train every weekend after New Year. (subject to snow conditions, coach availability, and permission to train from the Mountain High Management).

We would prefer to talk to you in person this Sunday rather than responding to the individual questions via email.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the mountain this Sunday!
Best,
Alex and Olga

Training Saturday-Sunday February 24th and 25th and Super G at Mammoth

We plan to train this week end both Saturday and Sunday at Mountain High. The mountain made snow and is making snow. It also might snow tomorrow night and next Tuesday, so there is a possibility the season will be extended. Please come up and let’s enjoy the mountain a little longer. We don’t know if there will be gates, it is up to the snow, at present is difficult to say.

U10-U12 SG and U10 GS at Mammoth on March 2 to 4. Please remember that if you want to attend these races at Mammoth the registration closes this Sunday (the 25th) at 5 pm. After there will be an extra charge.

U12 only: YOU MUST register for the Training Run on Friday March 2nd, and actually do it. No training run no race.

There is no training run for U10.  U10 will run a GS race.

Gear: U12 can race with GS ski, they DO NOT NEED SG ski.

Daniel will be the Coach for TMH at Mammoth.

Hope to see you this week end.

Race at Snow Summit Sunday February 18th 2018

There will be a open Race at Snow Summit this Sunday, February 18th.

Race registration will be at the Snow Summit Race Room in Tyndll House (next to Bear Lodge, close to the locker room)  from 7.30 to 9.30.  Inspection will open at 8.30, so please try to complete registration by 8 so we can inspect the courses together with all the kids. I plan to go up with first chair at 8.30 am.

They will set two course on Miracle Mile (red and Blue course). Each athlete will run once on the blue and once on the red course, the combined times will be the scored time.

Parents, you can see the arrival on Miracle Mile without skiing, great spot to get picture and videos.

Please make sure to return the bib at the end of the race.

I will be up with Francesca, and help our kids.

It is a great occasion to have a first not challenging race experience, and to have fun with our friend at Snow Summit.

Hope to see you on Sunday.

Matteo

Coach Ali says:

Hi everyone, you can view and download all the pictures from Snow Summit’s Slalom race from the link below. These pics should be good for small prints, if you like me to email you the full resolution of any pic, please send me the picture id number (you can find the number under info button). I am also including some pics from Snow Summit’s top racers so your kids can see their stand and style against other kids. Let me know if you have problem viewing and downloading the photos.

Best,

Ali

First South Series Race Jan 20/21

Dear Parents,

Our first race weekend is quickly approaching.  Our first USSA South Series race is hosted at Snow Summit on January 20/21.  The schedule has both GS races being held on Saturday with a training day on Sunday available to all racers.  Please note that the schedule may change due to weather or conditions.

If this is your first year racing please note that you must register with US Ski and snowboard.  usskiandsnowboard.org   You will need a license number that you will then use to register for the race on adminskiracing.com.  I will be available to walk you through the process if you need help.  There is a late fee for any race registrations after Monday January 15 at 5 pm.

You will be required to have a license to participate as well as a hard ear helmet.

If you choose to train at Mountain High on January 20/21 we will have coaches available to train the kids that are still at Mountain High.
